Purple, blue, and 2 lbs. up

Recommended Posts

I am on day 7 as of today and I am so sore!

I am still sleeping in the recliner since I can't get out of bed and I am covered in bruises. The heparin that prevents blood clots allowed every trauma to look like a Hitchcock movie. I've got some as small as 2" in diameter and some as long as 8". My belly is huge, misshapen, and hard. I had noticed that my belly button incision felt warm and hard, today I found out why. A brand new bruise, around 5" tall and 9" wide is centered on that incision. The whole thing is so painful.

I weighed myself the morning I came home. I had gained 18 lbs. in the 4 days since surgery. I am down to only +2, but it's so frustrating not being able to post a loss.

Yikes you are really having a difficult recovery. Please stay positive, I know its hard but once your body adjusts, the swelling goes down and you start to heal everything will fall into place. My best advise is to take your pain meds, do as your doctor instructs and walk, walk, walk, walk. Also please try to stay hyrdated that is very important!!! If things don't seem right please do not hesitate to call your doctor that is what you are paying him for... he works for YOU !!!!

Been there done that!

They used me as a pin cushion. I counted 11 tries to start and IV while I was out. I have a medi port which allows docs to give me iv meds without having to start and iv on me. I get monthly iv meds for rheumatoid arthritis.

They told me they could use it to knock me out, but not during the surgery. I said that's fine, but the reason I have it is because I am a really hard stick. So when I woke up I count 11 attempts to start and iv before they got one. I had bruises all over my arms.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
