So I am scheduled for sept 4th and just had my last pre op appt. while waiting I met a woman who was 6 mos out and 70 pounds lost. While that is great, she lost most of the weight at the top of her body- leaving her butt, thighes and calves still big. I mean no disrespect but it looked awful!!! I am also big at the bottom and having second thoughts!!! Has this happened yo anyone?

Everybody carries their weight differently. To the naked eye, we might look the same but that's visual manipulation. We are all uniquely build.

She might have lost mostly on her upper body and bottom has to catch up but don't think you will lose the same.

I do understand your fear, though. It's natural. Have faith in your body's ability to shed the extra pounds. Important is, that you are losing.

I still have my thighs and hips which I absolutely love because I'm curvey almost and I do mean almost like a coke bottle shape lol I was amazed how I still had thighs bc I thought after a 90 pound lost I wouldnt still have them (started at 294) but yea everyone carry their weight differently

I am heavier on the bottom as well, but with exercise you can even things out a bit as well. She probably did not exercise!!!!

In contrast, I am apparently going to have no butt at all when I lose a bit more. Sigh

I have a butt. Always did. I'm finding it isn't going anywhere. Lol but in fine with it as long as the scale goes down. I'm not hippy and my thighs aren't big. But I could see how that could scare you. Everyone is different.

Don't let her journey take you off course

In about 8 months you are going to wish there was a little more padding back there - trust me.

That darn tailbone hurts!

They are right, everyone is different and everyone has their own issues with their body. My butt is big now but ends up flat when I'm smaller. Think of it this way though, booty is in! People are getting implants to have big butts so you would be ahead of the game and smoking hot lol!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
