I know everyone experiences everything differently and we all have different tolerances for pain, but I'd like a better idea of how sore I'll be after my surgery. Was getting in/out of bed a problem? Did you sleep in a recliner? Are stairs an issue? Was pain the biggest reason you held off returning to work?

I'm a telecommuter and work from home, so I don't know how incapaciated I'll be and if I can get to work within a couple of days (my hours are flexible and I can work on my laptop on the couch).

Thanks!

i may not be typical, but I was getting out of bed on my own about fours after being put in my own room. I started walking the halls at that time with little or no pain. I was a bit dizzy. I was able to sleep in the hospital bed the only night I was there. I did use the self-medicate button a couple times the first day.

First night at home I was able to sleep in my bed. I could not roll to my right side without pain. Second night no problems either side. I am now 5 days out and feeling great. I have been walking 1.5 to 2 miles a day.

I will stay out until my two week followup appointment. I do find it hard to concentrate on my computer for any extended time.

Hopefully your pain will be minimal.

I have been doing 90 g of Protein and 50 to 60 oz of Water daily.

Good Luck,

Rick

I walked after surgery and had moderate pain for about a week...I used the pain meds for a week.

I was up and walking around the next morning and getting in and out of the hospital bed on my own. The quicker you are up and moving around the quicker you recover. First night home was a breeze, of course I was sore getting up and down from a laying or sitting position but I took my pain meds as directed and the following Monday I was back in work..... I worked 1/2 day in the office and 1/2 at home for 2nd week and by 3rd week I was in office full time.

My surgery was in 8/6. I sleep in a recliner until this past Friday. I could get comfortable in bed and had difficult getting up from the laying flat position. I am also a teleworker. Today is my first day back. The morning was fine. I am really tired now though.
