I feel guilty for eating....

Recommended Posts

I am now officially 2 months post-op and I have lost 55 pounds. I am very happy, but now I am starting to feel guilty every time I eat. I'm at the point now where I can basically have anything, but every time I eat I feel so bad about myself. I don't know why....has anyone else experienced this?

It's old guilt. Like when we would eat an entire pizza pie in an hour and later sit in the recliner and feel bad for overeating. The same old "I wish I didn't eat that pizza!", "Why did I order it?"

It's the fear of slipping back into old habits.

Most log their food intake. It helps them be in control of their nutrition. Maybe you could give it try. MyFitnessPal is the most popular out there. Good luck and have faith in yourself and the gift you have been blessed with.

Was on the road today and stopped for a burger...had two bites of meat and felt guilty....it tasted gross!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
