Hi, I'm new here and this is my first post. I'm looking for advice. I am 9 days post op, having lost 17 lbs, can't be healthy right? And I have a constant nausea sensation preventing me from eating properly. Water even tastes bitter and I have always been a Water drinker.

Any suggestions? Should I call my doc? I feel so weak. :(

There are some DASANI and CRYSTAL LIGHT drops to flavor your Water with "0" calories, that might help you with the water problem... I am ok with water so I ended up giving the drops away.... you can find them at Walmart or target.

Hang in there, keep sipping, one day at a time!

Sounds normal. I was nauseous a lot in the beginning. Everything smelled funny or tasted funny. That gets better after a month or so.

Just drinking was a challenge. My tastes in flavors changed constantly - one week I'd like crystal light peach tea and then it would turn my stomach and I'd try another flavor. Most were too sweet so I would either use a larger container or use half of the packet. My current favorite is 4C green tea. Who knows what I'll be drinking next?

Your initial weight loss goes fast and in the first week or so a lot of your loss includes IV Fluid weight from the surgery.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone, I'll definitely try the mixes. I know I'm not supposed to but I've been sipping on fruit juices to kill the bad taste.

I'm sad to hear this will go on for a month, I may ask my doc for a prescription of zofran just to make it easier to try to eat. I feel so week that even taking a shower exhausted me.

I felt terrible for the first couple weeks. Phenergan was a life saver. It did get better. I'm now about 4 1/2 weeks and have not felt nauseous for quite awhile. My first couple weeks I never thought it would end. Hang in there! I drank g2 and Powerade zero the first week.

I thought for sure it was coming to an end then bam, it starts all over again. Thank you for letting me whine.

I've tried all the suggestions and they work great the first time but when I go to do it again it doesn't help. Patience is not my strong suit. :(

I found a raspberry green tea crystal light that I love! it's not too sweet, and taste wonderful! I'm not a huge crystal light drinker either.

I need to try the teas' date=' the others were way too sweet.[/quote']

Try herbal teas and sweeten to taste w/splenda. If you find one (or more) that you like you can brew a pitcher full. Start w/a sampler to try a variety of flavors. My favorite is mint tea. I prefer a mild subtle flavor so I make it weak. :-)

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
