Last night I started with this pain in my lower left abdomen. I had been constipated so I figured it was gas. I've gone to the bathroom all day today but the pain is no better. Should I be concerned or could this still be gas?

How far out are u from surg? I had left side pain for right at 3 weeks then tenderness. I didn't think would ever go away and they kept telling me that's where the heaviest work and instrument maneuvering was done. I was worried I'd hurt forever but it did just suddenly get better. Hope that helps?

Thanks for answering I appreciate it! This isn't surgery pain I know that one you are talking about well lol. I called my doc today and they said to take stool softeners and that I am not eating enough. I was hitting 700-800 calories a day with effort. They want me at 1200 which seems monumental right now. I can not believe that I am even saying that! Before surgery I could hit 3000 on a bad day :( So, I guess I have more meals to eat here. Thanks again!

That sounds like me Wojo. The doctor said even if you had a bowel movement the Constipation could be causing the problem. They said stool softeners are harmless so take them and it should ease up. I hope we both feel better!

See I feel constipated but went twice yesterday (sorry tmi) so I thought I was ok but I guess I'll start a stool softener to be safe.

I had this pain (super bad) in my lower left abdomen, and walked around guarding my side because I was sure it would kill me if anyone bumped into me.

My doctors solution was to take drugs to not feel it. It would wake me up in the night if I moved , one time it literally made me cry out loud.

The pain lasted for two weeks, i took drugs once a day while at work, the took two before bed. After exactly two weeks it just stopped.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
