Can't tell when I'm full

Recommended Posts

I'm 1 week out of surgery and I noticed today that I can't really tell if I'm full or not when I eat. I had almost 1/2c of puréed Soup and I didn't feel I was full but I stopped anyway. Am I eating too much at this stage? Or is this normal?

It's normal. The nerves that tell your brain you are full have been cut in the surgery it will take them a little time to grow back. In the mean time keep doing what you are doing and stop before you over do it.

You should follow what your surgeon has provided. Example, when I was in the soft stage, I had 1/2 cup cottage cheese and 1/2 cup yogurt for Breakfast. lunch was 1/2 Soup etc. etc... Follow the meal plan they provide and you will be doing fine.

I'm the same way. Wonder why my dr never put this fact in my paperwork? Seems like it would have been an important fact to include!! Does anyone know when these nerves come back..

Nerves grow very slow but they will come back in time.

I'm 4 weeks out and I'm starting to be able to tell just fine. You got to make sure you battle the head hunger. Tonight ate a small chicken breast and was full but my head wanted more of course I ignored it.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
