I've heard people say we can't have them after gastric bypass and I heard some day it's ok in moderation.

I really need to take some anti-inflamatories I had emergency back surgery 2 weeks after my WLS does anyone know what the true answer is or all surgeons different?

My surgeon never gave me a clear answer and my general doc said wait at least 6 weeks post op.

NSAIDs can cause ulcers over periods of time. Some surgeons say never, some say okay with an acid reducers, some say very occasional use.

After being many years out, I take them only of I have a really bad headache. Maybe one day a month ( if that).

My surgeon has me on an acid reducer. I would try to talk to him but he seems to get annoyed when I ask him questions.

There are meds that reduce your inflammation with being an anti inflammatory. Like tramadol - it would be worth the research. Also there is voltran gel.

Ask your surgeon for liquid Lortab. Also, if he gets annoyed with you asking for help, dump him like a sack of potatoes. Switch, if possible.

Living in pain is not helping you recover any better. Can slow down your recovery and progress that much more. Sending you good thoughts. I hope your pain subsides soon!

Nsaids have always worked better for my pain but my surgeon told me....no more. So I'm stuck with Tylenol.

I have a torn rotator cuff which is EXTREMELY painful. I am 16 months post op. My Ortho. dr. has me on Meloxican which I would not be able to function without it. I have been on the anti inflams for the past 3 weeks.... I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Thank you so much guys. I'm gonna call my surgeon and see what he says if he even tells me that is. If not I might just press my luck. Not being able to walk without a walker is really taking its toll on me physically and mentally.

I woke up from my gastric bypass unable to feel my left leg he told me it was from positioning on the table but it turned out some how a disc in my back got messed up really bad either from laying on the hard operating table or from getting moved from table to table. Every time I called him to get advice about my leg he would talk angry to me saying it has nothing to do with him or the gastric bypass surgery. I understand its not his fault but some advice would of been great instead of attitude.

If I need him for something again I'm probably going to see if another hospital will take me.

I've gone through hell since my gastric bypass surgery and it kills me to say that.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
