I would give your surgeon a call and see what they say. Trust me, you need to stay hydrated or it will lead to other issues and they are not fun to deal with.

Could be a stricture if things feel stuck. I had a stricture that got fixed but still deal with a good bit of nausea so I have phernergan and zofran prescriptions as needed for that. Phenergen works better for me but during the day I will take zofran so I don't fall asleep!

I have nausea too. My theory, based on some other posts I've read, is that my digestion has slowed down or something like that. So whenever I start feeling constipated. The nausea starts getting worse too. Just a theory though. I'm only 8-weeks out and I haven't talked to my doc about it yet.

When I'm constipated my nausea is worse too. My RNY buddy has this happen too. Seems to be a common thing.

I still get queasy if I'm constipated (6 months out). For the first 2 months post-op I got super queasy if I went too long without eating (never got hungry so apparently nausea was my hunger signal). I still have random nausea that just hits....not often any more but it does happen. If you can't drink you need to get help ASAP!!! Good luck :)

I have always had a problem with Constipation and it is normal to feel nausea when you are. But feeling that way really sucks and I'm sorry you feel so bad. I have been fighting with nausea since my surgery too and upping the Water has helped me some. I wasn't told to limit the popsicles, hmmm. Definitely talk to the doctor and see what you can do to make you feel better. Good luck!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
