liane 30 Posted August 12, 2013 After you had RNY when did you start to notice you were losing weight? When did others start to notice and compliment? I cannot envision a timeline of how fast the weight will come off. I am so excited for this journey to begin. Thanks!
gomekast 559 Posted August 12, 2013 Thanks for asking this...I've been wondering also. I know everyone is different, but there had to be an average to go on!
dottednails 122 Posted August 12, 2013 I had my rny in November and by family christmas everyone could tell that I had lost and I was down about two sizes. I would say that I have lost about one size a month pretty evenly started at at 28 and am now ten months out and wearing a size 12/14. Everyone will notice your face first. People don't recognize me anymore just today my son said to me that one of his friends asked if his dad got remarried because he did not recognize the woman that picked him up. When my son told him it was me he was like wow your mom is so skinny now that was a great way to end the day ! So it takes a few months but it goes pretty quick. Best of luck ! 6 life_after_gastric_bypass, LacedUp, meyouus and 3 others reacted to this
music1618 879 Posted August 12, 2013 I felt the change in clothes fitting looser quickly, but you will not really "notice" it for several months.
life_after_gastric_bypass 214 Posted August 12, 2013 I felt the difference in my body a few weeks after, then as the weeks passed I was at the grocery store and the store owner said my face look different, then my clothes started to get baggy then I knew I was losing at this point...(its just my mind still saw the 300lb me in the mirror, while others were seeing the difference, by april i had a party for my son and everyone noticed a difference...so I would say gradually people do notice when you are losing...in the days, weeks and months ppl notice quicker than we do... renee 51 Posted August 13, 2013 I've lost about 45 pounds since July 1 and no one notices yet. I ran into a friend a few days ago who didn't know I had surgery. I told her, and then asked if I looked like I lost weight at all. She gave me "that look" and said, "well maybe a little" but she was just trying to be nice I think. I'm 2.5 months out now. I was like yes I've lost 56 ( at that time) pounds. People that know comment on the weight loss but they are looking for the differences. I can tell for sure. But those that aren't looking for it haven't really noticed yet. As of this morning I'm down 62 pounds. I'm sure when I get below 300 people will notice more. Jacqueline K 93 Posted August 13, 2013 Sounds like a jealous not supportive person! I bet it's noticeable. She's actually very sweet but just honestly seemed not to have noticed. No one else has said anything unless they know I had surgery. I can totally tell but I've only gone down one clothing size so far so idk. bloreorbust 286 Posted August 13, 2013 I've only lost 30 pre-op, but notice the difference in how my clothes fit and such. I was never vert attuned to my weight before, but am sensitive to it now. Maybe those who see us also have the same range.
Ammariehs mommy 150 Posted August 13, 2013 I'm down about 30 pounds and I am still pre op. my swimming suit that used to be snug is now loose. And to think I hated it in the beginning because of how tight it was. Now it's my favorite one to wear.lol Also people say they can see it in my face but I still don't see that. I'm sure that a few months after surgery we will need to start buying new clothes. I can't wait to shop! I'm tired of having to order my clothes from woman within. That's the only place I can get blue jeans in my size. Which is a size 40. So ready to see that number go down!! Good luck!!

I had surgery on 7/1 and I am also down 45 lbs. My husband and son have mentioned they can see it in my face and my husband said he could tell when he hugs me. Nobody outside the house has noticed it. 45lbs seems like such a BIG number, I am a little heart broken I can't see it yet.
ArmyOfMe 82 Posted August 14, 2013 In my case, I would say about 2 weeks after surgery. My MIL was the first to notice the difference. If my clothes would not have almost fallen off of me, I would have not recognized any weight loss. Incredible how the mind plays games and won't allow us to see the loss. AutumnPunkin 313 Posted September 13, 2013 I am pre-op and have lost 40lbs. I definitely see and feel the difference. I have gone from a 4x to a 2x. I started at 333lbs at 5'6" and now weigh 293 lbs. I am already feeling great, but no one has noticed yet. But mor impotantly I notice!
