Hey everyone. My surgery is Aug 19 so I went out & bought a multivitamin' date=' calcium citrate, B12. But I'm wondering now if I should have bought chewables. Any opinions?[/quote']

My dr recommends flintstones chewable w/iron &zinc. But not gummies.< /p>

Like the children's Flintstones? Ahhh my childhoods coming back to me. I liked the purple Pebbles.

Well poo, I might have to return this stuff

My surgeon gives me the following options for multivitamin. They are all chewable. He said they need to have 18 mg of Iron and 400 mcg folic acid per pill. No gummies!

  1. Centrum Kids Complete (NOT silver label)
  2. Flinstones complete
  3. Equate (Walmart) Childrens Multi complete.

I also have to take 500 mcg of Vitamin B12 which can be can be pill form of chewable and Calcium caltrate, which is usually pill form but can be dissolved in liquid.

I know all doctors are a little different but I hope this helps :)

After surgery I did the gummies of everything excerpt B12. We no longer can absorb b12 and it must either be dissolved under tongue, shot or nasal spray.

I now use new advantage Vitamins. It is powdered form and has everything except b12 in it. I add it to my Protein Shake. It was made by a wls and designed for us.

I was told no flintstones. A chewable adult multi with Iron. I get mine from Celebrate Vitamins as that's what my surgeons office gave me samples of. There is a good liquid multi too be wellessee. I've seen that one at Walmart and Walgreens. 2 doses a day.

calcium citrate chews- 1500 mg Calcium a day. They want me taking the ones with D3. I do Calcet Creamy Bites.

B12 - sublingual, shot, or nasal spray. I have chosen the shot. It's just once a month and hardly hurts at all. The sublingual tasted bad to me so I like this. Just once a month and forget it. Actually did my shot tonight so I'm good for a while.

I use the Centrum chewable Multivitamin. I take an Iron pill, it's tiny. My Calcium and D are Gummy. And I use the liquid B12 drops under the tongue.

chewable are just plain disgusting no matter what brand you try. You have to chew for three minutes or more before swallowing which makes it irritable. The chewables I tried from Bariatric Advantage made me nauseous. I switched to Flintstones but it made no difference. I immediately switched to capsules from Vita4Life on my nutritionist’s recommendation and they work great for me.
