Isopure protein drink?

Recommended Posts

Ugh, it came highly recommended but I cannot stand this weird aftertaste :( Is there anything similar ( not shakes) with that much Protein that doesn't taste like poo?

Some of the Isopure are tolerable. Most make me gag too. The more Protein stuff has seems worse it tastes. whey protein has usually 25-30 grams per serving and is ok.

Which do you think are the better flavors?

The ones from costco and SAMs (premade Premier) are good. Best I've had is the GNS Wheybolic Protein. It is pricier but tastes the best. DO NOT GET THEIR PLAIN WHEY. Make sure it is WheyBolic. Also I like the My Whey. Don't know where it was from it was a sample given to me. I also take Bariatric Advantage. (They have a website. I've heard Syntrax is really good but I have not tried it. They have a sorta Oreo and cream flavored. syntrax has a website also and you can get it on Amazon. If you are on Facebook, there is a group called Protein Friendly shakes and Meal Planning. They have dozens of Protein Shake recipes to keep boredom away. Also, finally, look at theworldaccordingtoeggface.com. She is amazing. Good luck! Let me know if I can help you more.

Oh, try websites for sample packs. Most gave them. Try first. Protein powder can be expensive and your tastes are different from everyone else. What I or anyone likes might not appeal to you.

BariatricChoice.com

Mybariatricpantry.com (great stuff! And you get cash rewards )

Syntrax.com

powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury.com

Bariatricadvantage.com

Also try waldenfarms.com. They sell zero calorie, zero carb, zero fat and gluten free products. I love their super fruits dressing. They have salad dressings, fruit spreads, chocolate, strawberry and others syrups. They also have wonderful customer service in case you don't like something (I've never returned a thing) but I've seen on their fb that they will.

Whew! I think that's all I have!

I use my bariatric pantry as well, the sample packs are awesome, indeed! I didn't want to order whole 12 pack of one Isopure flavor, so I ended up going to GNC and getting one of each. Thanks for other links :)

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
