You should follow your dr orders. Your stomach can't prevent you from over eating right now. That seems a bit much atm. Call your doc.

I went to see him yesterday and he was concerned because I have been afraid to eat and drink...He said you have to get your Protein in to heal...so today, I drank an 11 0z Protein Drink then a 12 oz diet iced tea, followed by the 5 oz yogurt..i did do it all slowly, waiting for a sense of fullness which never came...i dont know what is normal and what is not and havent had much help from the doc except a sheet of paper with a list of approved foods at different stages....

Your nerves that tell you that you're full have been damaged with the surgery, give it time and they will come back, you just need to keep drinking and get your Protein in to help heal your body. ;)

Totally agree. Your stomach (now your pouch) has stretch sensors that signal the brain when you're full. Following surgery and possibly for several weeks, those sensors are ineffective during the initial healing process. But keep in mind that you don't want to drink too much too quickly just like you don't want to eat too much too quickly - both can stretch the pouch. You may want to consider treating the Protein Shakes as a "meal" - no drinking for 30 minutes before and after.

Also keep in mind that that even after everything is working normally, it is well documented that it can take anywhere from 15 to 30 minutes for the "full" signals to reach your brain. One of the reasons that it's a good idea to take 20 to 30 minutes for each meal.

You're gonna love the new you!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
