chocolatetre' 5 Posted August 11, 2013 I have been having sleep issues also. I never really was an early bird in going to bed, but now its worse and I've been trying not to take anything over the counter or prescribe. I go back to work on 8/19, so I really have to get it together soon.
ArmyOfMe 82 Posted August 11, 2013 I take Melatonin right now but it's not helping much. I forgot about Unisom. Took that occasionally during pregnancy but half a pill only. I doubt it will do any good atm. My RNY buddy also suggested Benadryl. Guess I'll give it a try in liquid form. Wish we could live off of liquid Lortab. That stuff is relaxing. Anyhoochy, I'm awake again while everyone including the K9s are snoring. Pitiful! =))

I've got less the 3 hours of sleep in 3 days. some of that has to do with I had major back surgery a week ago though and my incision is killing me.
LeticiaHuggins 177 Posted August 11, 2013 I think I have you all beat.. my Dr has me on 10 mg of Ambien and 50 mg of trazadone to.be taking together at bed time. LOL and yes... It will knock me out BUT I only stay sleep for maybe 3 to 4 hours... Then I'm bored and claim to be hungry munching on watermelon. I have insomnia so bad at midnight I was up and working out with some Billy Blanks doing Tae Bo. Now its 2am... I was hoping to be beat tired and fall asleep on my own but I see I need my sleeping pills. I think I might take my Ambien now and then my Trazadone if I wake back up. ~Leticia **HW: 259**PreOp: 216**SURG: 3/21/13 **Discharged @: 221** 4.5 mons post op. caleksa 48 Posted August 11, 2013 One of my doc's put me on Ambien last week, it worked great from 11-4:30. Every morning at 4:30, I pop awake. Friday he switched me to Ambien CR, exact same problem. The extended release does not seem to be helping. This surgery has been challenging enough without the sleep issues.
terry1118 1,274 Posted August 11, 2013 Had insomnia before but it's truly worse now. Have been taking Benadryl since surgery. Have been trying melatonin and not really any relief. The last few nights have been up til 2 am and struggling to make it thru the day. Guess going back to Benadryl Benedryl always worked for me. My doctor recommended it when my sister was killed. I was having nightmares and not sleeping. Benedryl helped and has been my sleep aid for 31 years. I gave up Benedryl and coffee six weeks before surgery and started to sleep well (turns out coffee was the culprit in recent years). After surgery I developed a rash and was put on children's liquid Benedryl. I wasn't really having trouble sleeping at that time but I found the Benedryl made me sleep longer (8-9 hours as opposed to 6-7). AND liquid Benedryl seemed to kick in faster. :-)

I become very aggressive in the bedroom and then don't remember it the next morning. My poor hubby - he would get up the next morning feeling like a stud and I would not remember any of it.
