Way to go Kristy !!! Set obtainable goals and don't over do it because your don't want to get injured --- Been there !!! When I wanted to increase distance I would walk 1/2 mile - run 1/2 mile - walk 1/2 mile - run 1/2 mile then I would increase the distance that way then once my body got use to the distance only then did I increase the run distance by a 1/4 mile. I found that for me this was the best to ease into this running thing slowly you will last longer that way.

When I was running in the park I would see people start out all crazy only to poop out after a few weeks. I like the slow steady approach (which works for me), you don't want to get burnt out. Keep up the great work. You sound just like me ---- love to run :)

I use stiiv app, you can sink to my fitness pal and it gives you freebies for completing goals like I got two propel Water samples and coupons a $2 gift coupon for Amazon mp3s and a coupon to get 50% off an iPhone case. It keeps me motivated. Also you can do marathons against friends and when you complete them they send Water to one child in South America for one day. Very cool!

I have a question... Last night I walked 2.4 miles and I felt great today I feel like I got hit by a truck, why is that? I'm still pre op.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
