Constipation @ 5 months after

I had never had this problem before and now I get it about every 3-4 weeks. Is there something I can take daily to prevent it? Miralax and MoM say not to use for longer than a week. HELP!!

I use Miralax. I don't use it every day, just maybe once or twice a week or if I feel I need it.

Had the same problem. Nutritionist just told me to put an ounce or two of All Bran Buds (found at Walmart) in my Greek yogart daily. Also to eat 3 dried prunes a day. Will see if that works??

I use Miralax every day to every other. Works wonders. My doc said it was fine but you may want to check with your doc.

Dried prunes? Are they too high in sugar?

Huh..I just read the box. It said 15 g sugars for 4 prunes. I don't eat them all at once. I spread them out throughout the day...but that is high

How bout something a little more natural. Libbys pure pumpkin is a great source of Fiber with minimal calories.

A serving is half a cup with 5grams of fiber and 2grams if Protein for 40calories. It also has niacin and is a good source of Vitamins.

Not to be mistaken for canned pie filling.

What do you do to make it palatable? Pure pumpkin doesn't taste that fab....

Now mind u I'm still pre-op. But in the past I would use the pumpkin with cinnamon and sugar substitute. I would start with just a quarter cup once a day. It takes a few days but had success with it.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
