lisalisalisa 54 Posted August 4, 2013 Any suggestions on what food items I need to have in my house for when I get home besides Protein Shakes and Vitamins?
music1618 879 Posted August 4, 2013 Honestly your taste buds will change so much after surgery I would not buy too much of anything. My first week I was told Water is the most important thing to get down.
SoccerMomma73 1,867 Posted August 4, 2013 What kind of diet are you on the first couple weeks? The first few weeks my doc has you sip on diluted 100% fruit juice throughout the day (drastically helps your energy level) so I kept a couple bottles (usually apple and white grape) of juice in the fridge. I also recommended a supply of crystal light or mio, Water tasted BAD to me for about 6-8 weeks after surgery. broth, SF pudding and Jello, low fat milk. If you get to do full liquid I'd keep creamed Soups, refried Beans (thin with broth), squash Soups, broccoli cheese/cauliflower Soup (thin with broth) and bean Soup (again purée and thin with broth) on hand. SF Popsicles and/or fudgecicles. Egg drop soup with the solids strained out was a staple while I was on liquids. I also was allowed cream of wheat and oatmeal while I was on liquids. Really, not much...you eat so little that a can of soup is 4 or 5 meals. SoccerMomma73 1,867 Posted August 4, 2013 And Decaf hot tea. I've found that sipping warm beverages seems to relax things and ease the gas as well. Plus when I feel puny I tend to drink hot tea. I guess it's one of my comfort foods. HW 312, pre-op (RNY) 255, current weight 204.

terry1118 1,274 Posted August 5, 2013 Ditto what SoccerMomma said, minus the cream of wheat and oatmeal. I ate a lot of Greek yogurt and boosted my Protein by mixing unflavored whey protein into cream Soups. At first it seems nearly impossible to get all your protein so adding Protein Powder helps a lot. 1 lisalisalisa reacted to this

SoccerMomma73 1,867 Posted August 5, 2013 Oops!!! Dannon light and fit 2X Protein Greek...80 calories, 12 grams of Protein. The new blended flavors are totally smooth and you'll probably get 2-3 meals out f a normal serving ate a TON of yogurt early on, still eat it almost daily. lisalisalisa 54 Posted August 5, 2013 I love danon light and fit but hate greek yogurt. I just want to have a few things in the house when I get home in case I need it. Can I have regular danon light and fit and if so, any flavor?
