Trying wine for the first time

Recommended Posts

Hey all,

I'm 4 months post op. I've done super well and haven't experimented much. Tonight is my anniversary date with the hubby and I was thinking of having a glass of wine. Yes I realize how it effects us. My question is, have any of you tries wine, if so, what kind, and is there any chance it could cause dumping? I've never had dumping from natural sugar. I prefer white wine.

I enjoy wine from time to time. I like mascoto myself. I have dumped on it of there is nothing else in my tummy. Also be careful as it will go straight to your head your first time. Let hubby know you will be tipsy quickly. Do not drive after drinking it.

Isn't moscato carbonated? I was thinking. Riesling.

I had about half a glass at about 2 months. I think it was a pinot grigio. I was fine didn't feel anything. I think if you have it with a high Protein meal you will be okay.

There is sparkling versions of it, but it is also regular wine.

Happy anniversary! That said, yes, I tried wine from my husband's glass and it gave me headaches. So did beer. It's either too early or my alcohol tolerance has gone to hell for good. Meh ... No loss, no mourning.

Don't know much about alcohol but I too wanted to try some wine...I thought they actually made healthy ones specifically for dieters?

The wine went over well. No dumping. I had Riesling, and since then, I've also tried a red moscato and was fine with that as well. It does hit you super fast though.

Skinny girl Sangria is delicious and tastes like a sweet Riesling.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
