Does anyone have a problem with eating shrimp? I know we can eat lobster and fish (after healing, obviously), but my Inamed booklet said shrimp may be a problem - and I love shrimp :)

I haven't tried shrimp because I had the worst PB on some scallops! Sometimes it is hard to chew the shellfish thoroughly! Let me know if it works out!

No problems here with shrimp, I have eaten a variety of sizes, and cooked in a variety of ways---DH and I tend to share!!! As with everything new---take it slow, and chew forever!!!!

I tried two medium shrimp last night for dinner, they worked out really good, I did a shrimp cocktail kind of thing, I took two out of the freezer, threw them in some boiling Water, when they got pink, took them out, put them back in the freezer for 1/2hour then had them for dinner...Yummy and no problems with the band!

I handle shrimp better than almost any other meat. After my fills, I am very restricted for about a week and can hardly get things to pass. Shrimp has always saved me and I tolerated without any problems. After the post fill week, everything settles and Im back to sampling everything - but shrimp cocktail is my best friend sometimes.

Scallops work well for me. Shrimp I can't handle at all and I have to be careful with lobster. I live on flounder, salmon, and tilapia.

Shrimp, crab, lobster and fish are my life savers. I CANNOT do PORK (loin, chops, pulled pork. ham is fine)! My surgeon says if you chew well enough anything will go- not pork!!

I was not such a big shrimp and fish eater pre band- now I cant get enough!!

Shrimp was my friend up until my last fill. I had my first PB in the Chili's parking lot after eating their grilled tequila shrimp. NEVER AGAIN!

I live on shrimp and fish. I can not eat chicken... I don't like it and it will get stuck. I eat shrimp prepared all different ways. No problem.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
