They had to adjust my meds due to lack of absorption.

Try mixing it with applesauce or yogurt anything soft & mushy will work ,that helped me, but I forgot your just a few days post op can you have Jello? ? I seem to remember that was something I could eat tight after surgery. I hope this helps, Just a fyi after 6 months post op I'm off my anti depressants,& am only taking my meds for panic disorder,I also take heavy duty pain med's for my chronic RA, after surgery I had to stop other meds & went through withdrawals, my Dr put me on Clonidine it was a life saver, I took it for 2wks & I was much better until the adjusted my meds Sorry I'm kind of alone so I tend to ramble on when I reply to a post . I just like to try to help. Peace, Mary

I didn't have issues right after surgery but right now I'm weaning off my cymbalta and feel absolutely horrible. The brain zaps are the worst.

Funny until reading these post I couldn't explain what I was having and now I can. I don't take antidepressants but I do take ambien for insomnia. I have taken it for about 2 years. just had surgery rny april 10. Now I am having what I thought was short term memory loss. I have a delay in thought processing information. Have just put in a call to my surgeon but until they call back just figured I would continue typing this since I had started it as my brain caught up with me.

Now I have to call primary which I just saw her on 19th. I know she is going to make me stop taking it but I guess if I start weaning myself off it I will hopefully see a difference in the delay and like she told me that I may not need it since surgery. I did fall asleep one night without taking it, and now it is just like a habit of taking my other meds I take it routinely. Guess I will start tonight and cut it into 4 pieces and take 3 and see how it goes. Back in school for LPN to RN program can't afford for all my brain cells to not be firing.

I am really worried about this postop issue... I have a big depression history and hide it. So i started taking 5htp to boost my serotonin and gingko biloba. Already was taking effexor. I sure hope i get through okay - doing whatever i can to prepare.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
