Jacqueline K 93 Posted July 30, 2013 Your employer decides if they will offer it on insurance or not. I work for Wells Fargo and they covered it with their UHC plan. Employers can include or exclude different things on insurance policies depending on cost and what not. If your insurance contact at work is saying none of the policies available to you offer it then they are probably right. I hate that for you but it's probably not going to get covered. renee 51 Posted July 30, 2013 I have UHC, and my bypass was covered. My husband works for CEC Entertainment (they own all the Chuck E. cheese locations). Employers can choose what options to include/exclude. Maybe your insurance rep meant that none of the plans offered by your specific company include it? That's too bad. It happened to me about 5 years ago when my family was covered by my employers insurance, they just didn't cover it at all. When my husband finally moved companies to his current one and we went with his coverage it was included! Good luck!
BisaW0902 7 Posted February 15, 2014 What the issuance rep tells you is not always accurate. I UHC called when I started my journey and the rep told me that there was absolutely nothing they covered associated with WLS. Turns out the info for bariatric survey was given through Optum, not just from the UHC reps. I didn't learn this until I talked with a WLS center and they called the insurance company to verify, and sure enough they cover it.
