Im ten days post op, and realized I need different powder because the one I bought makes me extremely sick. Thing is, I have to go without it until I get my check four days away! Im trying to eat as much Protein as I can, but i know its not near enough.. I've also been getting sharp pains in my head randomly..I don't feel like I can drink enough during the day either...im taking my Vitamins like im supposed to...I guess im starting to feel kinda overwhelmed or something..I don't think im doing anything right. Ugh.

You & I both waiting for the check :) my kids want me to do so many things & even free things cost money kids love eating out. Hope this money can stretch for a bit.

It's hard when you can't handle a food or Protein shake anymore. Our stomach changes so much.

Your probably doing just fine. I was only getting about 20 grams of Protein in at 10 days. Everything will work out eventually. It is very overwhelming. Its a completely new way of living literally overnight. Not sure about the pains in your head. Maybe a withdrawal of some sort (carbs, caffeine) but I would talk to your doc about it. Just do the best you can.

My best advice is do the best you can. I'm 8 months post op and I have plenty of days I don't get all my fluids or Protein in and I've been this way from day one. Each day gets better. Just try the best you can for the fluids....dehydration sucks and can really mess you up.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
