Big Wojo 32 Posted July 25, 2013 Ok so when I woke up from surgery my left leg had the feeling it was a sleep all the way from my butt to my foot. My surgeon said its normal and it was from my positioning on the table. My surgery took 5 hours. He said the feeling would come back over time. Well it's day 9 post op and I still have the pins and needles feeling in my foot and leg and can't walk without a walker. I'm so scared I did this surgery to be healthy for my 2 year old son but now it seems I've lost me leg. Has anyone else ever experienced anything like this?? BBdoodle 483 Posted July 25, 2013 Yes I have... what my surgeon told me was they use the cautery machine which has to be grounded so they ground it to your leg. The cautery is used to cut and cauterize during surgery. My right thigh was numb from my hip to my knee for about 3-4 weeks. I also had nerve damage from having hernia surgery a small area in my groin is totally numb from being grounded and that was like 7 years ago !!! I am sure some physical therapy will help you regain the use of your leg faster, please check with him.
