So many temptations in the world!

Recommended Posts

There are so many temptations in the world that I'm finding it hard to stay on track. I haven't had my surgery yet and I'm supposed to loose 34 pounds before they will even start the process. I'm down 17 but it's like a fight to go out side my home. There are so many fast food restaurants around that I find myself stopping at one on the way home. I've even started leaving my money at home so I can't buy anything. How has everyone else delt with this? I'm struggling every time I leave my comfort zone. It's like I can taste the food I want to eat. I feel like I'm a crackhead. Lol Does anyone have any helpful tools on how to get through this? Please!!!lbvs

Somehow I have gotten to the point where I can't stand fast food. It's crappy food that is bad for us. It doesn't bother me but it has become gross to me... i am starting to miss sweets but I know I can't have it so I eat fruit or drink crystal light for my sweet fix. I have a book called eat this, not that try to look for healthier options until u can stop eating it. No one is perfect and this journey will not b easy, but u can do anything u set ur mind to. Best Wishes!

I've heard that after the surgery your taste buds change. I'm glad to hear this. Right now it's a struggle to change. But I'm trying!! I know this is for the best. My starting weight was 484 and I weighed in last week at 467. I lost 17 pounds . 17 more to go and I can start the process !! I'm so excited to start a new life!! Thank you for the advice.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
