I am one week out after having surgery last Monday. The instructions my doctor gave say I should drink very small sips and about 4oz of Protein drink over a 20 minute period. Water should go equally slow.

The problem is that I can greatly exceed this (I had a 12pz shake last night in about 15 minutes). It's like liquids go straight through my pouch and directly to the intestines. The concern is that I am feeling hungry most of the time (unless I constantly sip on Water or something).

Anyone know if this is normal?

I guess I'm just wondering if I will ever feel 'full' after I eat (when I get to solid foods).

YES you WILL feel full. I swear I never felt full before my bypass surgery. But now I ALWAYS feel full after eating something solid.

Thank you! You have no idea how happy I am to hear that.

One week out your hunger is almost certainly "head hunger". Follow your doctor's instructions as closely to the letter as you possibly can. Forget about what you "can" do and focus all of your thoughts on what you "should" do.

Your new pouch has stretch sensors in it which are temporarily ineffective as the result of the surgery. Be patient. As noted above, you absolutely will begin to feel full as the healing process continues. In the interim, you can stretch the pouch with liquids (just as you can with solids later on) by drinking too much too fast. You had enough confidence in your surgeon to allow him/her to perform major surgery. Apply that same confidence to his/her post-up care. You're gonna love the new you!!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
