snow25 188 Posted July 20, 2013 Thought some cold pineapple on a hot day would be refreshing... Not so much. Worst cramping, dumping since surgery. It's crazy what our pouches decide they like and don't like. So far pineapple and cabbage have been the two things that really tore me up. Ouch... Go away tummy cramps! shershrinking 53 Posted July 20, 2013 My Preop Nursepractitioner cautioned me against pineapple- i thought it was for sugar content. She also told me no bananas.
charrison27 19 Posted July 20, 2013 You may not be handling pineapple well not only because of the sugar, but also because of the acid. I love fresh pineapple, but can't eat very much of it because it makes my mouth bleed.
iamworthit 208 Posted July 20, 2013 My Preop Nursepractitioner cautioned me against pineapple- i thought it was for sugar content. She also told me no bananas. I have no problems with bananas. I put one in my Protein shake for the potassium. Maybe the Protein offsets the sugar?
snow25 188 Posted July 21, 2013 Feeling so much better. For now will just avoid pineapple all together.
jaye1464 70 Posted July 21, 2013 I am only 3 months out, but after the 3 month checkup, I found out that most fruits are not our friends!! This is due to the high sugar content, even though its natural sugar. My nutritionist gave me this order: berries, nuts, bananas, peaches & plums(no skins), citrus, no segment skin, melons and then apples and pineapples. He said not to avoid them, but have them sparingly and you may have a bad reaction to them when you fruit and I try to eat it as often as I can or add it to a shake.< /p> 1 CrysMo reacted to this
