I had surgery July 9th and it went very well. I stayed in the hospital three nights - they said I could leave after 2 but I wanted to stay one more. I was up and walking 1/2 hour after surgery and then every 2 hours after that. There was pain and I would compare it to a c- section. There are sometimes sharp pains sometimes just pulls other times it feels like its burning. But manageable - I had 1 what the hell did I do to myself moment in the hospital but it passed. I am getting my Protein and Water in and have a good schedule with the Vitamins. I think it's all about a schedule and doing your best to keep to it. food hasn't been any problem but I'm still on full liquids - Tuesday I start the third stage so we will see how that goes. I look forward to this journey and where it takes me. I'm hoping I can get clearance to go back to Zumba my exercise of choice!!

If anyone is thinking about this surgery do your research and educate yourself. I interviewed three surgeons before deciding on mine. You have to have faith in them and have a support system. My sister had the sleeve so she can answer most of my questions and is a great help.

Good luck!!!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
