Yes most liquids taste nasty! but not these. Go to the websitehttp://www.wellesse.com/ or call the 800 number and they will send free samples. The Iron does not taste great but is is not bad. All the other taste very good. I was very surprised when I got my samples. I ordered them three weeks before surgery, I am two weeks post op and I take them daily. I have healed fast and feel very good. Anyway try the free samples if you do not like them you are out nothing.

The Calcium was delicious! I finished a whole bottle before I realized it wasn't calcium citrate :/

The Protein was awful lol but I choked down half a bottle of it before I noticed it was collagen Protein. Boo again!

It was a nice chance up though.

thanks Alex.when can I start Omega 3 ?I have been taking those regularly. But now Doc said no medicines. My knees have gone dry!!! its been almost a month now.

Maybe I can cut them ope and mix with milk or something?

This is a good thread. It will be interesting to compare oneself versus everyone else.

I am 8 weeks out from surgery. I take opurity chewable Vitamins, by powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury (Bypass and Sleeve Optimized) in berry flavor

For supplements I take Caltrate, Chewable Calcium & Vitamin D, 600mg twice a day with meals. I do a sublingual B-12, 500 mcg once a day and one Vitron-C, Iron supplement with Vitamin C, usually before I go to bed

In addition, my surgeon has me on 20mg Omeprazole, prescription Prilosec, as an acid reducer. I also take Dr. Ohirrra's Probiotic. Because I am in stage 4, soft Proteins I take a daily dose of Miralax in my morning Protein shake and one colace during the day to keep me regular. It has worked very well.

I will be advancing my diet next week to stage 5, no food restrictions, and I am interested in what people may be doing for a more natural stool softener or ways to increase Fiber instead of the pills I currently take.

Hi Alex,

I am three months out and have been taking the following multivitmains and minerals since I was two weeks prior to surgery:

Addtionaly, I drink an 8oz bottle of Joint juice to get some Glucosomine & chondroitin.

I am three months post RNY... Feeling great and my three month labs were excellent , so says my bariatric nurses.

Daily: 2 Flintstones complete ( has iron)

calcium citrate wafers 1,000 units ( Bariatric support)

Twice weekly....Vitamin D 50,000

Twice monthly... Vitamin B12 subQ injection , 1,000u

GNC chewable Probiotic complex with Fiber

GNC chewable Beauty Burst with Biotin, collagen and Vitamin C

I noticed on Amazon you can order dried banana powder. I have no idea if it is good or not it was high in potassium.

Has anyone found a chewable Iron that isn't nasty? I am using the Bariatric Advantage multi Vitamin, B12 and calcium citrate, but their brand Iron by itself is TERRIBLE!!! Going to return it to the Vitamin Shoppe today and look for something different.

I prefer whole food based Vitamins as opposed to chemically synthesized supplements. They contain a lot of micronutrients and cofactors that just can't be imitated. So here goes....

Garden of Life Vitamin Code For Women (includes a raw food blend of enzymes and probiotics). Dose is 4 capsules/day. I only take 2. Note- Source of a Life Gold is also another great whole food Vitamin and it comes in chewable and liquid. I just went with the Vitamin Code because it comes in capsule form, which I prefer.

Garden of Life Healthy Blood Iron (also contains Vitamin C, folate and B vits) I was taking 3-4 times/week but my 6 month bloodwork showed high Iron so I cut down to only 1-2 times/week

Twinlab B12 sublingual 500mcg 3-4 times/week - levels great at 6 months

Natures Bounty D3 5000iu 3-4 times/week -levels great at 6 months

Solaray calcium citrate - I used to take this 3-4 times/week but 6 month levels were high so I've discontinued for now.

Ironically, I was taking most of these before surgery. The only thing I changed was switch from oral to sublingual B22.

Wow, I feel kinda sheepish. I don't take Vitamins at all!

I eat fortifies foods each day. All of my diet is fruit, vegetables, healthy nuts, dairy and Protein.

According to my improving blood work, my diet is sufficient enough to give me the necessary Vitamins.

Making me take any pill has never worked, so I work 20x harder (go figure), to make sure I get all of my vitamins naturally.

I am not a "health-nut", and I know it is easier to take a single Vitamin per day, but yeah, probably pretty lazy. My nutritionist and I have worked out a healthy way to work around the lack of taking vitamins.

Even Iron supplements are never taken. I supplement them with food too. I am however considering adding some Calcium supplements to my diet.

I'm very interested in this thread. I am 2 months out an the only issue I am having is with Vitamins. Someone please help.. I dnt want to get sick or loose my hair! :(

I have tried Bariatric Advantage an I have tried Celebrate, both times I have tried it made sure to put something on tummy an within 15 minutes I was throwing up:(

I need a Vitamin I can keep down! So far only thing I have been able to take is the flinstone gummys, but I'm worried that it's not enough of what I need. Also if ppl are taking the flinstone Gummy are they taking anything else to? Please help... I'm trying to get in a routine an I'm having a very hard time

As long as you are getting complete Vitamin assays done at least annually and your levels are good, there's nothing wrong with "eating" your vitamins. However, many vitamin deficiencies in gastrectomy and WLS patients don't manifest until years after surgery. Iron, B12, Vitamin D, Calcium, folate and zinc seem to be the biggest culprits. So just keep up the healthy eating and continue to have your levels checked year after year and you shouldn't have any issues.

BTW, congrats on your weight loss!

Have you tried capsules instead of the chewables? My mom has a super sensitive GI tract and she's the one who turned me on to whole food based vitamins, because she can take them without upsetting her stomach. I'm currently taking Garden of Life Vitamin Code for Women. I took Source of Life Gold prior to surgery, but the chewables tasted too sweet to me postop so I switched to the GOL capsules so there's no taste to deal with. The levels are better than a lot of bariatric vitamins and they also contain Probiotics and digestive enzymes.

I take Citracal with Vitamin D3 included. I also have been instructed to take 2 Flintstone Complete chewable vitamins each day, and Vitamin B-12 sublingual 500 mcg every other day. This is what I have been instructed to take after my gastric bypass.

I have tried chewable but ugh nasty taste. I have been on the Gummy flunstones. The celebrates that I have are the capsules an I keep tryn to take but I get sooo sick. At first I thought maybe cause there wasn't enough good on my tummy so I ate good before I tried again an same thing hapoened. After about 10 minutes u get light headed an blah... It's so bad I literally dry heave because I can't get anything else to come out. Then my hole upper body is sore:(

      Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
      1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

        All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

      I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
