I was just switched to a 3-11:30pm shift for three months. I am an animal control officer and drive around all night. I take my lunch and Snacks with me, but find myself eating all night long it seems. When I was on days I ate about every 2 hours and i would stop eating around 8-9pm. Now I feel like I want to eat something every hour. I eat Breakfast, lunch, and dinner and then snacks. When I get home at midnight I eat something to make sure there is something in my stomach to take meds.

I am wondering if there are others out there that are on the evening shifts and when do you eat.

I am a year post op and have met my weight loss goals. At this point I am trying to maintain.

I switch between days and nights 12 hour shifts. Night shift kills me but I try and pack veggies, and lots of Protein (string cheese, meats). Also helps to increase Protein Drinks when working those shifts and just drink more liquids. Some days are better then others but this is what helps me...

I work 8 pm-5am with and hour drive each way. I make sure to drink a Protein Shake when. I wake up and another bottle of liquids before I leave. Then another shake while I'm driving to work and home from work. That way I get a minimum if 63g a Protein in. I also take a 15 min break about 2-3 hours after I get there to have a hydration break. Lol. My goal is to get 20 oz or so of Water etc down so don't get dehydrated. I take a lunch break for a Greek yogurt or Soup as well around 2-3am. I wake up by 3pm so I have 4 hours to get my day started etc and only stay up until 7-8 am.

Wow! You must have quite a job for it being worth all the driving! Do you mind if I ask what you do? If so, please don't feel obligated to answer!!!!

Sorry I just saw this I work as a forensics chemist' date=' specifically toxicology so drug testing on all body fluids[/quote']

This sounds like an interesting job. My daughter's doing an internship at RI Hospital for a laboratory science degree. Her professor is a microbiologist who's fascinated by bacteria and parasites. I just spent last night painting bacteria and parasites on martini glasses (under her direction) as a gift for him. They look amazing! He will recognize the images right away but he average person will have no clue what they are. She said if he makes chocolate martinis it'll look like a stool sample! Lol

(Gross, I know, but a microbiologist would appreciate the humor) :-)

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
