I start my liquid diet tomorrow, 2days before my surgery, and Im not sure how to go about it. Since i have a set schedule while on my pre op diet do i stick with that schedule, but instead of eating food drink broth or something? And since i wont be eating food do i need more than two Protein Drinks during the day?

I agree with call your doc. My liquid diet was 4-5 shakes a day (bleh) plus clear, calorie free liquids ( Water, SF Jello, crystal light, broth) when I wanted them. BUT every surgeon is different.

I did a shake for Breakfast lunch and dinner, if I got hungry (Ha! I was starving) I'd have an extra in the late morning and evening (the evening one was when I had the urge to snack usually). If you want to time it: Breakfast 7:30, lunch-12:30, dinner 6:00-6:30. If I did a morning snack shake it was typically 10:30, If i did a night time shake it was usually 8:30 ish.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
