Problems with poultry...

Recommended Posts

For the life of me I cannot keep any kind of poultry down! I've tried everything. It's my favorite food and I can't eat it. Anyone else have this problem? Will it get better? Help!

I've tried the ground kinds and they come back up too, but ground beef does not. Weird!!

Wonder what's in poultry that does that?

Maybe it's just a texture and processing thing ...I have tried chicken so many different ways and nothing has worked ...I have been ok with ground turkey but have only eaten it in chili ....otherwise I haven't been able to stomach anything else ...salad is my favorite at the moment cause its something different ....I became lactose intolerant after the surgery so that keeps a good majority of things off the list

I tried chopping chicken up in my food processor and adding chicken gravy to moisten it. I had no problems with it that way. I haven't had it since because after I have something sometimes I can't stand the thought of having it again. I also tried Willow Tree chicken salad. That made me nauseous - I think it was the mayo.< /p>

When was your surgery? For the first few months I couldn't do any chicken without getting sick, but I'm fine with it now at almost 5 months out.

I'm past done with chicken. Have had some awful experiences with chicken. Makes me sad but now the thought of it makes me queasy.

I have been eating ground turkey (Preop) for months now, i love it! The best seasoning for me is MAGIC - Prudhomme's Poultry Seasoning - green top glass bottle. I simmer frozen turkey patty in Water about 20 minutes to thaw it and cook through, til Water evaporates - then fry it in a little olive oil. I buy 2 pounds and freeze it in divided portions in baggies. It digests so much better than hamburger for me . Sure hope i can handle that after surgery.

I dont know how any of you are getting your Protein in- from the posts you should all be bald by now! LOL! Not trying to be mean. I expect to be right there with you soon, i hope. :)

Give it a break for a month or so and try again. chicken can be harder to digest.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
