4 months post op -- soooo happy!

Recommended Posts

Yesterday was my month-aversary, I am 4 months post op and down 70 lbs!!! I am beyond happy with the results so far. I not only fit into my jeans, I can put them on and off without unzipping them, LOL, so yes, it is time to do a LITTLE shopping as I am not yet at my goal weight, I still have 45 lbs to lose. I saw my surgeon yesterday and he is also very happy with my results so far. I am also working out, and to keep myself motivated, I registered for my first ever marathon, it is a 5K run, it is the COLOR ME RAD marathon, it will happen on November 9 and I am VERY excited!!! I downloaded a fabulous app that helps you train for the 5k marathon, I am feeling the benefits already. I had a hard time exercising after surgery because I have a bad back, however now that the weight is coming off, I feel really good when I am walking/jogging and the lbs are dropping faster with the workouts :D.

For those of you who are about to begin your journey I can tell you it is the best decision I have ever made in my life, my only regret is not doing it sooner. :)

Attached pictures to show progress so far... left is 2 weeks before surgery, right is last sunday.

Blessings to everyone!

Marisela

Thanks for the inspiration! I'm 4 weeks out today and feeling pretty good, but discouraged about my weight loss. I've only lost 16lbs :(. Do you remember what you had lost at a month out?

Okay so here's my standard lecture....you've lost 16 pounds in 4 weeks!!! That's 4 pounds a week!!!! That's that's 14000 calories that you've burned off.....EMBRACE YOUR SUCCESS!!!! Be proud of your accomplishment. For you to be discouraged about 16 pounds in 4 weeks is crazy and is going to make this a long and painful journey for you. Take your 16 pounds and be thrilled because what are the chances of you losing 16 pounds in 4 weeks before this?

I was told to expect 2-4 pound weekly weight loss, you're in the top end of that. Please please please be happy with your success and proud of your accomplishment. It's not a race, you've got the rest of your life to do this correctly. YOU ARE DOING GREAT!

(Sorry I just hate how so many people on here are constantly beating themselves up over not losing enough or not losing fast enough.....)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
