I'm just over 3 weeks out. I was readmitted to the hospital about 10 days after surgery with a fever of 102.4. They treated me with IV antibiotics and did a CT. They weren't sure what was causing the fever, but I responded to the antibiotics and was sent home after two nights. They gave me 5 more days if antibiotics to take at home. Well, I've been off of them about 6 days, and tonight my temperature is 100.8. That's not high enough to head to the ER, but should I call the doctor on call. Their message says only to call with medical emergencies. Thoughts?

I did call and my surgeon was the one on call. She advised that I take Tylenol to bring the fever down and they will call me in the morning to set up another CT scan to see if they can figure out what's going on. I have no other symptoms. Let's hope I get an answer. I feel like I'm walking on eggshells for fear of a fever.

Great! :) I'm glad they could get u in. Try to take a cool shower / bath too. My mom would always say rub yourself down with rubbing alcohol when I would get a fever. Keep us posted on what happens!!

Alrighty, they did a urinalysis, blood work, and a CT scan. They say I have an abscess where my gall bladder used to be. The best option is to have someone from X-ray insert a needle and drain the abscess and insert a drain, which I'll need to keep for a full week. They say I'll be sedated and won't feel a thing. The other option is another surgery, so I'm going with the needle. I head back to the hospital this evening and will have the procedure early tomorrow morning. Should come home by tomorrow evening. I'll also go back on antibiotics. Hoping for the best!!

They drained the abscess with a needle. They use the CT scanner to help guide the process. They also inserted a drain. Got to come home about 4 hours after the procedure. Pain is actually worse than I expected, but I'm hoping that improves with time. I may not need the drain beyond Monday. They said I could get it checked and possibly removed if the output wasn't much, and it's been pretty minimal. I'm on antibiotics also, so my fever is subsiding and that has made me feel better and sleep better. Sure hoping this does the trick and the infection is gone. I want to just concentrate on healing from the rny and begin enjoying the weight loss.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
