Lovingme4me, my surgeon is Dr. Wegner in the same practice as Dr. Weaver! I live in Olive Branch, MS but I work in Memphis. Small world ain't it? I just went for my initial visit this past Wednesday.

Hello AuntieBev, Are you going to attend any of the support groups. Dr. Wegner had one Thursday it was very informative. The next one is the 16th I believe by Dr. Kelley. Nice to meet someone from the area on the site.

I didn't know about the support groups but I am sure I will attend at some time. I'm kind of overwhelmed at the list of things I need to do that the insurance (Cigna) wants and so far not getting much cooperation from PCP's office.

I called the PCP's office to ask about the 2 labs that my advocate said I have to have & the woman on the phone was almost nasty about it. She talked to me like I was 3 years old. So I am not very optimistic about it going smoothly with them. It kind of burst my bubble since I was so pumped. I'm trying to get through that list as fast as I can. The time consuming thing is the 89 days of doctor documented weigh ins.

Sorry to hear that. You may have to switch pcp if you can. There are two other ladies on here on another form I have named Memphis. One had surgery by Dr. Wagner 12 weeks ago

I'm not sure. I hope this week they will tell me when to come in and schedule it. The insurance company said I'm approved for August 21st but I'm not sure if thats the actual date the surgeon gave them or if thats the insurance coverage date that you can have the surgery after that day or what. The sooner the better. I will keep you posted.

I'm at my PCP right now waiting on the labs. I am so stoked! This was the one thing on the list I was dreading and she was so agreeable! She said they handle these cases a lot so I didn't have to do any explaining. She even agreed 100% with my choice if surgeon.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
