I went on it immediately after surgery but it didn't work. I was on the pill. I'm now 22 weeks pregnant.

I started the Nuva ring my first post op period. You're very fertile after surgery and the pill doesn't absorb after surgery so you'll need to find a different method-- patch, mirena, shot, Nuva ring... Things you don't have to swallow. Lol

I'm 48 and have a long history of infertility with PCOS. I haven't used birth control in years. Do you think I need to now? I'm just 3 weeks out.

Yup, just hang around and read. We current have multiple members currently pregnant who had been trying unsuccessfully for years to get pregnant and post-op found themselves pregnant within just a few months (or in 1 case, 2 weeks) of getting their RNY done....while so far they all seem to be doing well it is safer for both mom and baby to wait a year or two.

Absolutely!! You'll be extra fertile now and you want to make sure you're protected! I started Nuva Ring and I love it. I waited 3 months but probably could've started it right away.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
