Any September surgeries out there

Recommended Posts

My surgery is tomorrow morning. I am on Clear Liquids until midnight. I have a raging headache. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Sadly I wasn't allowed to take anything before the surgery. I would call my bariatric office and ask if I were you.

They let me take Tylenol and gave me a prescription for ativan for the night before and day of surgery.

I'm one week post op, and honestly slightly worried... I see all these people saying "I could only eat half a yogurt etc" and honestly I feel like if I didn't make myself stop halfway I could probably eat the entire thing. I'm just not getting the full feeling whatsoever. My nut said I could start on cottage cheese, yogurts, and my "pre-selects" yesterday and I thought I'd get the "full feeling" but I haven't at all. Wednesday I'm attending a class and figured I'd ask then but it'd be nice to also get some input from you guys. Thanks.

I'm exactly the same. I can eat 4 oz of any of my allowed foods(because I measure that much out) and I never get full. Pretty sure I could eat at least double. I get 80 oz of Water in a day too and can gulp it down after a workout with no problem

Thats strange. Sometimes after my walk I get so thirsty I forget about my surgery and begin to gulp and I get a massive sharp pain. Haven't puked yet as I am almost always careful but so far I don't ever feel hungry. I only eat bc I know I need to but I am one week post op. I am sorry you guys are having trouble but you are still probably eating less and weight loss will still happen. Just don't push to see how much you can eat and stretch out your new stomach.

How Many mg are you taking? I'm preop but I'm going to start taking it before. I'm trying to avoid hair loss as much as possible. I've alwAys had super thick hair and don't want to lose it!!

I took a book

Robe

Slippers

Phone

Charger

Notepad

Vaseline

Toiletries

Change of clothes

I didn't use the book at all! I did wear a change of clothes home though. The hospital will obviously give you a gown and socks so you may not need a robe but I just wanted to have my own.

With Biotin you can take as much as you want. I am taking 5,000mcg, I believe.

One weird thing thats going on with my body is that I go from being mildly cold to sweating all over. I keep checking and i don't have a fever.

Stitcher: does the temp change ever seem to coincide with eating?

I totally forgot I wanted to get a robe so the other patients don't get a surprise...lol

Me too! I think it's out hormones being all out of whack.

It doesn't seem to be around eating at all but the hormone idea sounds exactly right. My surgeon told me that this surgery messes with your hormones! I totally forgot. I am only 25 so I was wondering why I was having hot flashes. Well now I know what I am in for in 25 years.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
