msraza1982 24 Posted July 5, 2013 I've been admitted to the hospital for a stricture. I've already had it dialated twice this week and it keeps closing off. So tomorrow they are going to attempt to put in an esophageal stent. Has anyone has one? If so how uncomfortable is it?
lirri 40 Posted July 5, 2013 I don't know but I'll be thinking about you and hope things go well for you. I just found out today after an upper GI that I also have a stricture and I'm worried about it closing. They say my opening is about 6mm wide right now. Waiting for a call back from the doc to tell me what the next steps are. My question with these strictures is how they stretch things to make sure they stay open. I'm worried that the scar tissue will just return to its normal size after being dilated or that more scar tissue will grow back. My body has a bad case of growing lots of scar tissue after trauma. . My doc said with a normal stricture they usually only have to stretch you 1 or 2 times. It's not really uncomfortable except to the gas when you first wake up, and it only lasts a few minutes. I have a really bad stricture, it was completely closed. Today they decided against the stent. The doctor on call said he spoke to my doc and he wants to do it himself next week.... well good luck with your stricture. Everything will be just fine

I got stretched to a 15 french todaym. .. which is smaller than a catheter that they use in your bladder. .. I guess about the size of a straw
