reality is setting in faster than prepared lol

Today we got our itinerary and now our pre appointments have been scheduled, surgery is schedules, and our first post op appointment is already scheduled. Today marks exactly 7 weeks till surgery! I'm getting butterflies, and nerves are nuts! But what I am really struggling with the most is, how do I grocery shop in the mean time. I just cleaned out my pantry, and an entire deep freezer, (sold the deep freezer) won't need it anymore lol. My mom felt like she went on a shopping spree! She ended up with like 12 grocery bags to take home lol. Now it's time to grocery shop and I don't even know what to buy or what to eat. I want to keep everything to a minimum and not buy so much and end up tossing it out. I'm so sick of food already this makes me nuts. I hate the dreaded question of "what's for dinner tonight" I'm only cooking for my wife and I so you think it would be easy right. nope. we're both so sick of food.

I need some ideas please. I'm the total opposite. I'm not gonna mourn food, I'm not even gonna miss it, and I could care less to splurge or pig out. so I need some help. Thanks guys

Good morning and welcome to the waiting game! Since you're like me and still have a family to cook for I will share this website with you that i learned about during a support group at my Bariatric center. It is www.chefwoodys.com. This is a site ran by a Bariatric patient who had the surgery himself and also his wife. Woody needed to be able to make healthy meals that both he and his wife could share w/o having to cook two different meals. The website is pretty awesome and breaks down meals based on your place in the journey; so there's recipes from the very beginning of post op all the way through the rest of your life. Also, if you have an old family recipe that you are particularly fond of but it's not healthy; if you send it to Woody he will lighten it up for you! Super nice guy and will also answer your cooking questions! Best of luck and congratulations on your WL journey :-)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
