Feeling better but still scared

Recommended Posts

I'm feeling better about getting surgery. I just worry about what to eat after, right now I'm in a slump, I'm so tired that I don't want to cook or go to the store, I buy things and I feel to bad to cook them, please tell me things get better after surgery, that I will have more energy and want to cook more:)

Post-op your body is going to be focused on healing and that takes a lot of energy. Pain is subjective but you can expect to be sore and you're not going to have a lot of energy for at least a week, maybe more. It will be important to get a lot of rest and let your body do its thing. And it's a pretty safe bet that you're not going to have any appetite at all. It's actually quite bizarre but most folks have no hunger at all for a period of time following surgery. Several weeks is not unheard of. So you're not likely to feel like cooking.

The good news is that every day you'll have a little more energy and before you know it, you'll start having more energy than you've probably had in a long time. And yes, your appetite will eventually return but it will probably be "different" than it was pre-op - not unpleasant, just different.

It may not sound like it now but the whole experience is truly amazing and very, very exciting. It will be the dawn of a new day and a new you!!

You will have plenty of energy once you are postop (after the healing period) Some days its all I can do to stop and rest for a little bit. I haven't had this much energy EVER! I am doing things, going places and enjoying life as I should have been all along--- but was too heavy to do it!

It's a process to get there...but once you are there it is fantastic! Enjoy the journey!

My husband kicked me out of the kitchen for 4 weeks!! He did all the cooking!!

Mine can't cook to save his life. He once tried to melt some shredded cheese on a burger when I went out. When I came home he asked me "What the heck kind of cheese is that that won't melt?" I took a look at it and answered "Coconut"! Yup! He's a keeper! Lol

I had my surgery 7/15/13. I started cooking again and I love it. I have more energy than I hve had in a long time. Things arnt always easy but they do get better. Hang in there. Things do get better, but don't get discouraged if they don't get better right away.

My surgery was October 1st and my husband won't let me near the kitchen...today was the first day he has eaten anything around me. I keep telling him it doesn't bother me cause I have NO appetite. The thought of food hurts my pouch lol. Starting to get a little energy back.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
