Once skin is stretched beyond its breaking point you are up a creek. Exercise will tone the underlying muscle but no exercise in the world can fix the hanging skin. You either learn to life with it or pay to have it removed. Also, while moisturizing is great for your skin, don't waste your money on lotions that say they'll tone you skin, they won't. Your skin is like a rubber band, it stretches and stretches, and stretches but eventually those stretchy fibers snap, once the rubber band is snapped there's no putting it back together.

Sorry to say but the above posts are 110% correct ... nothing burns loose skin. The only way is to have it surgically removed. You can increase your muscle mass under the skin which will fill in the sagging skin a bit. But once skin has been stretched beyond capacity you will have stretch marks and lose skin and it will never go back. Don't waste your money on all the gimics out there either... nothing but surgery works.

Yes, it's terrible that's true. I just paid $3500 out of pocket for my bypass and now I need to start saving immediately for the plastics I will need in the next couple years.

I'm young at 26 but since I weighed 377 at my highest I know I will have lots of excess skin. It can only stretch so much.

I really didn't think the skin would be a huge issue, I'm only half way to goal and EWWWWWWW!!!! TAKE IT OFF NOW!!!!! FYI they also have an anti-chaffing solid that looks like deodorant (got it at wal-Mart) gold Bond Friction Defense. I used it on the super humid Florida vacation...works pretty good if you're looking for something g besides powder.

Plastic surgery is the only answer. I hate my saggy arms but I'm not willing to live with it :)

I will have to check that out! Thanks! I'm thankful I haven't experienced any rash or anything. I am proactive and I think the thought grosses me out. I was laying down looking at my stomach last night and thinking of Adam Sandler in the movie Click. When he's flapping his flab LOL.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
