Surgery tomorrow and I'm scared

Recommended Posts

Just need to vent. I'm petrified. I've had surgery before but nothing this major. I know I want the surgery, I need the surgery. I'm in that oh-my-god-I'm-never-going-to-be-normal-again phase I think. I'm mourning food. How do I truly break up with my best friend for the past 37 years? I've been overweight/morbidly obese my entire life, I've never experienced anything else. This is just last minute stage fright, right? I'm not turning back, I'm going forward with the surgery. I can do this.

I'm feeling the same way my surgery in July the 29th and I'm having second thoughts, like what am I doing to my body? But you will be ok every one who gets it never regrets it;)

My surgery was July 29th, 2012!! I was scared too but wouldn't regret it for the world. The hardest part is that your mind still wants good and craves it but you literally will and can never eat a lot of food again!!

You CAN do it! And it wasn't as bad as I feared. On a scale of 1 to10, with 10 being how bad I thought it would be, I would give it a 4. My rotator cuff surgery was wayyyy worse. :-)

As far as "breaking up with my best friend" goes, food (the types and amounts you were eating) was never your friend - look what it did to you! If it was a good friend you would not have spent a lifetime being obese. A good friend would never do that to you. Think of it as 37 years spent in an abusive relationship that you are choosing to end. You are embarking on a new healthy relationship with foods that nourish you in amounts that are sufficient for energy and good health! These healthy foods will be your new best friend. :-)

But when u cross over to the other side.... I can't explain the happiness I feel. I love seeing the changes on my body. I went shopping yesterday I always wanted to b able to shop at old navy in the regular women's area, not plus. I bought 13 summer dresses yesterday (lol) I went a little crazy with the Visa, BUT I got XL dresses. It feels amazing. It's so worth it and I was in so much pain after surgery, it's still worth it! This feeling is PRICELESS ;)

I was scared too. But I was more afraid of not doing it. I could choose this amazing tool that could reinforce my desire for a long and happy life with the people I love, doing what I love and exploring things I never would have because of the obesity...or I could just stay the same. Tomorrow could be the same as today or it could be filled with possibility. It is scary, but it seemed more frightening to stay the same.

Best wishes to you and deep breaths!

It's true for me. Thinking of food relationships as abusive helps me to stay away from things that aren't good for me. And I feel that comparing my relationship to food with any other bad relationship keeps it in perspective. :-)

It ain't easy honey but that's what we are here for. I wish I can have a burger right now but I can't so I won't and I just keep thinking how all that crap is not going to enter this new person again. And how much thinner I will be in a year..we can't let food control us! We eat to live not live to eat!good luck it will

Be ok..

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
