Hey y'all, My family and I are taking a road trip to Colorado next week. It's a 14 hour drive, what do y'all recommend food-wise for road tripping?

I'm 2 months out, and can handle most things that aren't bready.

We did 14hrs road trip in early june. I had pre made crystal light bottles, Gatorade has some nice choc Protein bottles premixed so I had a few of them,Protein Bars, snack crackers, blueberries in a cooler. Mainly I could live with that and some tender bites beef Jerky. :)

I will be going on a road trip about a month after surgery. God willing of course. I was concerned about the same thing. Would anyone advise against it. I know I will do all the driving since my hubby isn't taken the trip and I will have 3 small children with me. (ages 2, 8, and 9) I know I will have to pack healthy Snacks and drink very little because I'm driving of course I don't want to keep stopping.

Protein bars and shakes, virtually all nuts (including peanuts) are healthy but almonds are especially good, turkey Jerky (you might want to try Pacific Gold from Costco), Old Wisconsin Turkey Bites (Walmart and over the top tasty), Kashi pita crisps, Babybell Light Mini Cheeses, string cheese, some (not all) trail mixes, yogurt (Oikos is the best I've ever tasted), rice cakes (Quaker has some really good ones, both sweet and savory flavors), I like the "small" Lunchables (Ham and Swiss and crackers only are my favorite but they can be hard to find - try Target), Kellogg Special K Cracker chips (great substitute for potato chips or fries), and you can't go wrong with chicken, fish or turkey as long as it's not fried.

Colorado has the most beautiful mountains in the world!! Have a great trip!!

I would definitely either bring Protein Shakes for the way...I went on a trip that was 8 hours each way and it was hard to get in Protein.< /p>

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
