Recommended Posts

Hi, I'm looking for some folks from the NJ area, I had my surgery on January 29 of this year. I've lost 104lbs so far. I haven't had to many problems, knock on wood. Just looking to talk , I keep forgetting to go to the group meetings, my surgeon's office offers. Hope to hear from some fellow New Jerseyans.

Peace,

Mary

Hi! I live in bergen county, about 15 minutes from Giants stadium( you can tell I'm dating myself, by calling it by that name, lol) My surgeon is Dr Ewing, his office is in Paramus,& I had my surgery at Hackensack University Medical Center. What about you? My cousins live in Park in is that central Jersey? What was your weight at the time of surgery, if you don't mind me asking. How much have you lost & have you met your goal weight? I was 386lbs the day of my surgery, on 1/29 & I've lost 104lbs so far, I still have another 134 to loose. As you can tell I'm real chit chatty, hope that doesn't put you off. Talk to you soon.

Peace,

Mary

I had my surgery at Hackensack University Medical Center, my surgeon is Dr Ewing his office is in Paramus. My wt. at surgery was 386lbs, I'm now 284lbs. Just this past week my weight loss has significantly slowed downed, I'm not eating any different, so I've joined a gym here in town hopefully that will kick start it again. Have you experienced anything like that? I'm glad you responded to my post, as you can see I love to talk, I hope you don't mind, where (in general) do you live? I'm not to far from Giants stadium. Talk to you soon.

Peace,

Mary

Hey Mary, my surgeon was in Florham Park but I had surgery in St. Peters in New Brunswick. My weight at surgery was 216 and I am 163 now, my goal is 140... 23 more lbs to go !! I am a VERY slow loser :( I am a size 12 and want to be a size 8 or I will settle for a 10. I run 5 miles every day and I have never been healthier ! My surgeon said stop focusing so much on my weight # but on how I feel.

Congrats on you 104 loss that is amazing, stay focused, and exercise, watch your portion sizes and you will be fine !!!

Hey Mary! I live in Newark and I joined a gym abs worked out until I discovered that I was pregnant. Was told to stop all excessive exercise except light walking to avoid burning off calories. I cannot wait until the baby comes because I am absolutely feigning to get back into the gym!

To Bbdoodle, thanks I just joined a new gym that opened in my town, I don't know how much I'm going to be able to do because of my knees, but I get a free 30minute session with a personal trainer,so I'm sure he/she will be able to set up a plan that will work for me. I never thought I'd say this but, I can not wait to go to the gym !!! Talk to you soon

Peace

Mary

I am in central New Jersey South Plainfield to be specific I'm having my surgery March 25th 2016. I'm going from a gastric sleeve to bypass doctor SadEt is doing my surgery before He warned me five years ago oh that is a two-part procedure for me cuz I was almost warned about the right now to 82 from 3:16 and I'm looking to go down to 170. It would be nice to talk with someone else going through the same procedure to support each

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
