Crystalynn Alhashim 4 Posted June 26, 2013 I am having surgery July 3rd. I wanted to plan a trip back home on July 24. Should I wait longer? Any words of advice? Also I am wondering how much weight people lost within the first month post op? just curious. I am currently 275.
worm2872 635 Posted June 26, 2013 Well, you should be OK but if you have complications you may not feel up to it. Not sure if you are driving or flying. I was at about 263 at surgery and I dropped about 22 pounds the first month. I am kinda a slow loser but was still on track. Good luck!
Jacqueline K 93 Posted June 26, 2013 As long as your recovery goes smoothly and you don't have any complications then you should be ok to travel that soon out. I'm not sure you'll have much energy for traveling depending on method of transportation though... like if you have to drive, etc... that could really wear you out. I'm 4 weeks post op tomorrow and have lost 36 pounds so far. I have a lot to lose though.

DLCoggin 1,788 Posted June 26, 2013 The question to postpone your trip is a difficult one to answer. I would definitely recommend that you ask your doctor and follow his/her advice. Three weeks post-op you're likely to still be pretty sore and probably will have very little or no appetite. Trips home also tend to be synonymous with food. Be warned that yielding to that temptation at three weeks out would almost certainly be something you would regret. As you can see from the responses you already have, weight loss will fly all over the place. The fact that your weight loss might be different from mine, or anyone else's, means absolutely nothing. Everyone is different. There are just too many variables. Setting your expectations to someone else's results can be self sabotaging and frustrating. You're much better off focusing your energy on trying to relax and letting your body find its own way in its own time. Congratulations on your upcoming surgery! You're gonna love the new you!! 1 ElleG reacted to this
