So sad and frustrated and filled with regret

Recommended Posts

I am almost 7 months out and only down 60 pounds, I am so frustrated and starting to really regret getting this surgery. I have had a severe stall. I lost 17 pounds in 3 months. That is pathetic. I have upped exercise, Protein. I take Iron, daily Bariatric Fusion, b-12 and Vitamin D. I am drinking tons of Water, have cut out soda and nothing. I was told to expect rapid weight loss in first 6 months. 60 pounds in 7 months is not rapid. what can I do?

I think that's great! Don't be so hard on yourself the weight will come off. Sounds like your doing all the right things... It will happen!

I lost around 70 pounds in 7 months and considered it rapid weight loss. 60 pounds sounds great to me. It sounds like impressive progress. I have experienced many stalls - some lasted 4-5 weeks. I now lose about 1-2 pounds per month. I prefer to lose weight slowly at this point.

So, would you have lost 60 pounds in 7 months without surgery? You're averaging 2 pounds a week give or take. No, it may not be as fast as others but it's 60 pounds!!!! You've lost a 7 year old!!!! I know you wish it was faster but embrace your success. Celebrate your victories! I was told to expect 2-4 pounds a week...who loses 2 and who loses 4 and why I don't know, but keep on keeping on! 2 pounds a week is over 100 pounds a year!!!!

I agree with SoccerMomma73, embrace your success. Don't compare yourself to anyone else. I would suggest you journal your intake for two weeks and share that with your nut to get insight on where you can make improvements.

Don't let the negative self talk win. You are doing great! It would've taken you longer than 7 months to lose 60 lbs before surgery.

You are doing well but I would talk to your Dr and your Nutritionist. Do you journal?

70 lbs in 7 months- i would take that! Thats really good weightloss! And really the healthier way is to lose at that pace. Better for your heart - and I bet your hair didnt fall out at all. Hang in there, you are doing great! I am jealous! (i'm preop) I love to hear all your progress. Soon that should be me!

logically I know that it is better to lose at a slower pace, but I still have so much to lose, 70 pounds, that I terrified that I will not get to my goal. I was told that the first 6 months are when all the weight loss occurs. After that you are on your own. I don't want to fail this procedure and have everything that I have sacrificed be for nothing.

I guess I just feel alone because whenever I bring this up to my husband, he says that I never should have had the surgery in the first place and that I need to learn to deal with the consequences of my dumb ass choices. I feel so alone and so much like a failure. Like there is something wrong with me that has caused my surgery to fail.

I'm a size 00 I'm not looking sick or anything. He ask you wanna lose more weight. I'm 110 I don't wanna be a walking stick.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
