Hello all, I am having some problems eating and getting fluids down. It feels full and pressure when I do. I just seen my Dr and she said I probably have a stricture. I will be going in Thursday for a procedure to open it up. Can anyone else relate?

I have the same problem. It's aggravating the heck out of me.

My surgeon wants to wait 6 weeks before he will go down to fix anything. Too bad I don't have that kind of time.

Good luck. Hopefully, you get it taken care of asap.

Dr P is out of town apparently. I talked to 2 nurses Friday and Ann on Thursday and was told the same thing! They said they'd tell Doc when he gets back about my problems. This is awful! They said go back to liquids and puréed- I'd already done that anyway. Puréed gets stuck. Even liquids hurt and take a long time to go down. They told me to sip and wait before sipping again.

They said if its too bad to go to ER for fluids. Are they going to pay the ER bill? I'm so irritated! I know many people have strictures fixed before 6 weeks! This is crap. I have 3 weeks to go!

It's just scar tissue built up at the site where they attached my new tiny tummy to my small intestine

It's worse than awful. Out at my moms bday dinner at Joe's Crab Shack. Having mashed potatoes- doubt they sit well or go down well. Soup selection is non existent really. If it wasn't for the stricture I could have some crab or shrimp or scallops or lobster, etc. trying not to ruin her bday dinner but I'm afraid I might start crying at the table.

It's about over. Time to go home to birthday cake which I also can't have. Potatoes didn't do well so my niece ate them. Going to have some Soup when I get home.

Thanks. I love how supportive everyone on here is. Didn't cry. Doctor won't do the scope until I'm 6 weeks out. I have 2.5 weeks to go before he'll fix the stricture. I don't know why he's making me wait when others on here get it fixed much earlier.

Maybe he wants to make sure your body won't go into shock if he fixes it earlier. All dr's are different in their reasoning. Deep breaths, it might not seem worth it now but it will be in the end. Keep me posted on how everything goes! Hugs to you!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
