Ok ladies. I need your help. My skin itches. ALL OVER! And I can't seem to stop scratching! I scratched so hard the other night that the skin on my boobs is bruised and now super dry! Tonight I am finding it's my tummy along my incision! Any thoughts before I shred my skin right off?

It can be a number of things but often as a result of toxins leaving your system or you bring dehydrated. Try skin cream, more Water drinking and maybe a bath in epsom salts.

I have Psoriasis, which causes my body to break out in incessant itches from time to time.

From what I've experienced the best way to relieve the itchies, is to take a cool to lukewarm shower, Cold or Hot Water will irritate your skin.

After your shower, take some oatmeal, mix it with warmish Water till you have a goopy sort of consistency, and spread it on the affected area, leave it for about 10-15 minutes, then wash it off with lukewarm water. It's gross, but It works.

I would check with the doc. Maybe u r having an allergic reaction to one of the meds. It's normal for the incisions to itch when they are healing but all over the body is something else and I'm not sure if we can have Benadryl.

Are you still on pain meds? They can make you itchy. I have the same issue. You can take Benadryl....up to 25mgs at a time.

Not on pain meds at all.as I'm 19 months post op. Other than my Vitamins, Calcium & Iron, I take Nexium. I drink tons and tons if Water.

Pre op, I had excema but that seemed to go away after I had lost about 60 pounds. I'm down to a weight loss of 160 pounds now.

I tried the oatmeal trick. Doesn't work. Made my skin just crawl and I was itchier than before. I'm at my wit's end!

You may want to visit your PCP and have some labs taken. Whole body itching can be related to a number of things such as anemia, liver or kidney issues (which can happen more frequently after WLS), or even Celiac disease.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
