Lisa R 39 Posted June 21, 2013 I'm RNY 2.5 weeks out. My NUT says 800-1000 calories a day, 1200 if I work out. 75 g Protein, 64 oz Fluid, 3 meals of 2-3 oz, no Snacks. I eat the right amount and can't seem to exceed 600 calories with such tiny portions. I'm grossed out by Protein Drinks right now, so I'm only getting in about 50g protein per day. Fluids I average about 50 oz. I can't seem to do more unless my lips are on a drinking cup 24/7. How is it even mathematically possible to take in my requirements? 1 cbelhaj reacted to this
Fairyluver75 12 Posted June 21, 2013 Wow! That seems like so much at just being 2.5 weeks out. I was on pure liquids the first week, second week I started having Jello, cottage cheese, sugar free Popsicles. I was only getting maybe 40 grams of Protein a day and maybe 30 oz of Water a day. No set meals, just sipping my day away. Now that I'm a month out, I'm finally having set meals but still maybe only 600 call a day because it's so hard to eat that much. Have you talked to a Nut?? Fairyluver75 12 Posted June 21, 2013 Sorry just saw that it was your Nut who said that. That just seems like a lot to me, but I could be wrong. You don't want to force yourself, I was told its best to build up

At 1st stages my protein and liquids were often the same. It took some trial & error cause I developed some definite taste aversions. Skim milk might would help that's protein and liquid as would soy milk. I actually was told I needed carbs I was being so strict and I fainted. My dr told me as long as I remember the rule of 60..60grams of protein..60 oz of fluid I was on track. I was told to have 3-5 meals a day at 1st. It's really difficult and I felt overwhelmed with how would I manage but I can say it did finally start falling together after a few weeks. Idk if I could get 1200 cal in even in my life depended on it. I was averaging 300-500 now adding carbs I'm 500-

I struggled with protein the most I would get the fluids in usually no prob it was the food intake I had a hard time with. Thankfully it did seem to all kinda work it's way out. Was scared with work or traveling. Do u like sugar free Popsicles? That counts as your fluids too
BBdoodle 483 Posted June 21, 2013 After the first few weeks you slowly start to meet your daily requirements. Its difficult but I made it my daily goal to get everything in daily !!!

I just had an appt with my nut yesterday and I told her I was getting about 45grams of protein a day and she said that that was great for being two weeks out. Eventually she wants me to get up to between 60 and 80. I also told her I wasn't getting all my Water in and she said as long as I'm not feeling dehydrated I was fine. Remember this is a marathon not a sprint. These drs aren't going to be mad if you can't achieve their guidelines right away. You can only do what you can do and as long as your not making yourself sick by not eating anything, I think that's an achievement.
