No soda , huge coke drinker and I quit a month before my surgery and won't go back ... It's not worth it, no nutritional factors can come from it .

Haven't been a big soda drinker for years, but once in a great while I need something different. I've had it 3 times since surgery and honestly drank maybe half...if that...and threw the rest out.

I was a huge diet pepsi addict... I quit cold turkey after surgery' date=' I am a year+ post op and I have a diet soda every once in a while but I don't miss it at all. Actually it tastes very chemically now.[/quote']

It is chemicals. The acid will destroy tooth enamel (a fact provided by the two biology majors in the family) it is completely artificial, and has zero nutrition. If you MUST have a carbonated treat, try mixing two parts seltzer with one part grape juice (or whatever your favorite juice is). But it's definitely not a good idea early on, if at all.

Poor soda on the gunk that builds up on a car battery and see what it does. I saw that as a teen and haven't drank it since.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
