When did you go back to work?

Recommended Posts

I've finally got my surgery date and I'm trying to figure out what I need to tell work and how long I'm going to be off and how long I just need to work from home. I just have a desk job; I do a lot of writing on a computer and talking to people on the phone. So, I'm hoping that I won't need to wait two full weeks to go back to work, but I need advice before I ask my boss for my time off after surgery.

How long did it take you to go back to work?

I took less than 2 weeks off but needed more. First week back- last week I ended up doing half days as I was so tired. This week though I didn't work today or yesterday as I'm having bad nausea and dehydration. About to go pick up phernagan in a minute (zofran didn't work).

Physically apart from tiredness I was ok to work in less than 2 weeks but it depends on the person. Before this nausea I was fine and now I'm not.

I had my surgery on September 4, 2012 and went back to work on the 14th. I didn't have any problems. Your doctor will tell you how much time you need off. I felt really good after 2 weeks.

I have a desk job as well and I took two weeks off. I was feeling pretty good at about 1 - 1 1/2 weeks out but waited until after my two week follow up to go back. It really depends on the person and how you're feeling post op. It can take some time to get your energy levels back up and you may find yourself exhausted if you try to push yourself too fast. If you are able to work from home then I would plan to do that until you feel up to returning to the office.

I have a desk job too, but took 6 weeks. I needed 8! Lol

I was in a lot of pain in the beginning so the weeks flew by

I had surgery on May 30. I returned to work yesterday, June 17, no problems at all (that's a total of 18 days out). I work in a bank and spend a lot of time on my feet. I wasn't tired, or sore, or anything. If I hadn't come down with a nasty rash following surgery I would've gone back to work last week, out of sheer boredom. (I could only wear a loose fitting dress over the damn rash. Regular clothes were out of the question - I was too itchy.)

The time needed for recovery depends on several factors. Your surgeons recommendation, whether or not you have complications, the type of job you have, how quickly you feel better (everyone is different), and sometimes personal finances have to be considered, too. Each one is unique.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
